The Wine
La Rioja Alta has been a pioneering bodega since it was founded in 1890. It excels by applying traditional winemaking techniques in its state-of-the-art, purpose-built cellar. The 2019 vintage is an absolute classic from a vintage officially rated "Excellent" by the Consejo Regulador. A portion of Garnacha perfectly complements the richly layered Tempranillo, handpicked from the estate’s 30-year-old vines, set at 600-metres altitude. Traditionally made, it spends three years ageing in American oak casks made on the estate’s century-old cooperage. Never released until at least 6 years after vintage and only in the best years, this is delicious now but will continue to age beautifully for many years to come. Open early and decant.
